Departure times for the Skellig Michael Landing Tour may vary because of the sea conditions, tides and landing time slots but the tour normally departs between 7.30am and 1.00pm.

You will find out the allocated departure time for your trip when you speak with the skipper on the day before the tour.

What you need to know before you book your trip.

Skellig Michael is a beautiful unique site with wild terrain. However, the island is without doubt a physically challenging environment with approx. 618 steps which are hand carved and uneven. We endeavour to ensure that you enjoy your experience with us but to ensure that this takes place you must be aware from the outset the physical challenges that are associated with the trip.

Please read carefully the Fitness and Health Assessment checklist as well as the Clothing and Equipment checklist below before you confirm your booking. Once your booking is confirmed it is understood that you have read this document and agree to the list of requirements.

Fitness and Health Assessment: Visitor confirms the following at time of booking.

  • I am aware that the trip requires a moderate to high level of fitness due to the boat ride and the climb of over 600 steps to the top.

  • I have considered my current physical fitness and am confident in my ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb steep stairs.

  • I have consulted with my doctor if I have any underlying medical conditions (e.g., heart, respiratory, or mobility issues etc.) that may impact my ability to take the trip.

  • I am aware that the boat ride can be rough, and I may experience seasickness, especially in bad weather conditions.

  • I am prepared for possible weather-related challenges such as high winds or rain during the boat journey and climb.

 

Clothing and Equipment: Visitor confirms they will bring the following at time of booking

  • Waterproof jacket (essential for protection against rain and wind).

  •  Good quality walking boots or sturdy footwear with ankle support for the climb. No sandals, high heels.

  •  Comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities (e.g., breathable, moisture-wicking layers).

  •  Extra layers in case of weather changes, such as a fleece or insulated jacket.

  •  Change of clothing in case I get wet or cold during the trip.

  •  Sunscreen to protect from sun exposure, especially on the boat and during the climb.

  •  Sunhat or cap to shield from the sun.

  •  Water (preferably in a reusable, sustainable bottle to minimize plastic waste).

  •  Any medications I may need (e.g., asthma inhaler, motion sickness tablets).
