The contrasts of deep blue skies, surreal sunsets, tempestuous tides and threatening storms combined with the ever changing light on the hills and mountains and the multicoloured seasons of nature make this an inspirational place for artists and photographers.
Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, on the edge of Dungeagan village, is the heart of all things to do with art in Ballinskelligs. The gallery hosts exhibitions of art from around the world (see events page for details) and is responsible for the creation of Cill Rialaig artists village, an artists retreat on a cliff top overlooking the end of the bay where artists can go to paint in solitude and peace.
You can visit the place if you want, just be respectful. Chances are you’ll be struck dumb by the views anyway! Look at the map for details, it’s worth taking time to walk the route just to see the vista open out before you. Just spectacular. Our walking group will take you if you want and tell you more. The Arts Centre …..
As well as the artists displayed at Cill Rialaig, there are lots of locals and drop in’s (visitors who have loved it so much they have moved in) who are artistic. Just like it says in the quote above, artists are drawn here. Bring your easel or your camera, you might never leave.
